At this age the boy has assumed responsibility for his actions morally and ethically. Bat Mitzvah This too is a Jewish tradition which means "daughter of commandment". At the age of 12 the girl come of age and is recognized as having the same rights as a woman. The girl is now responsible for her actions ethically and morally. Though a ceremony is not necessary since at the age of 13 for a boy and 12 for a girl, they are already recognized to have the responsibility set forward by Jewish law.
